Thymosin Alpha-1 is a 28-amino acid N-terminally acetylated peptide originally isolated from thymic tissue. It is one of the most comprehensively studied immune-modulating peptides, with significant research into T-cell activation, antiviral defense, and immune reconstitution.
Thymosin Alpha-1 enhances T-cell differentiation and maturation through stimulation of Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) and IL-2 production. It promotes Th1 cytokine bias (IFN-γ, IL-12), activates NK cells, increases CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell populations, and augments dendritic cell function. The compound has demonstrated antiviral activity by stimulating innate immune signaling, including STAT1/STAT3 phosphorylation in immune cells.
