BPC-157 is a 15-amino acid synthetic peptide derived from a protective gastric protein. It is one of the most studied tissue-healing compounds in preclinical research, demonstrating significant effects on tendon, ligament, muscle, and gastrointestinal tissue repair across numerous in vitro and in vivo models.
BPC-157 promotes angiogenesis through upregulation of VEGF and its receptors, accelerating formation of new blood vessels in damaged tissue. It activates growth hormone receptor expression locally, modulates nitric oxide signaling, and influences the FAK-paxillin pathway to enhance fibroblast migration and collagen deposition. The compound also shows neuroprotective and dopaminergic modulation properties in CNS research.
Research includes tendon and ligament healing models, musculoskeletal injury repair, gastrointestinal mucosal protection studies, angiogenesis research, wound healing models, nerve repair studies, CNS neuroprotection, inflammatory bowel disease models, and organ protection research.
