TB-500 is a synthetic analog of thymosin beta-4, a naturally occurring 43-amino acid peptide found in high concentrations in platelets and wound fluids. It is a potent promoter of tissue healing and regeneration, with demonstrated activity across muscle, tendon, ligament, skin, heart, and eye tissue in preclinical models.
TB-500 sequesters G-actin, promoting actin polymerization and cell migration. It upregulates cell-surface receptors including VEGF and plays a direct role in angiogenesis and vasculogenesis. The compound modulates inflammatory cytokines, reduces fibrosis markers, activates stem and progenitor cell differentiation, and promotes cardiac muscle cell repair after ischemic events.
Research applications include tendon, muscle and ligament repair models, cardiac repair and cardioprotection studies, angiogenesis and vasculogenesis research, stem cell activation, anti-fibrosis studies, ocular surface repair, neuroprotection, and systemic tissue regeneration research.
